Does the source actually support the claim?

Evidence connects an answer's claims to supporting passages. A citation provides a route to the source; it does not by itself prove support. Verification checks whether the passage entails the claim, whether qualifications were preserved, and whether the source is appropriate and current enough for the question.

First, identify the exact claim that needs evidence. A citation attached to a paragraph may not support every sentence.

What to understand

Check support claim by claim. A relevant source may support one sentence while leaving another unsupported.
Preserve the source location and enough surrounding context to make a citation inspectable.
Grounding and truth are different checks. An answer can faithfully repeat a source that is outdated or wrong.
